Search Seven Back 2 School Charity Event

On Thursday 10th October 2024, the ‘Search Seven Academy’ opened its doors and ushered in a brand-new set of pupils. Our goal? To raise as much money as possible for some amazing  charities! We transformed Shelter Hall, Brighton into our very own school hall, bedecked in purple-and-gold banners, accompanied by retro toys, pick ‘n’ mix, inflatable pencils, and a nostalgic-throwbacks-playlist.

The bell rang at 7pm, and - after a rousing air-guitar solo from CEO Gavin Willis - we got started with a classic game of Heads and Tails, led by ‘Head Boy’ and headline sponsor Wayne Edwards at Wix Studio. A tense face-off resulted in victory for Maxine at Hive19 who walked away with the grand prize!

Our wonderful guests then sat down to take their ‘exams,’ a high-stakes quiz covering all of your best - and worst - school subjects. It was a battle of the brains but in the end it was the team at MOREVER that got the best grades and took home our tiny trophies!

We broke for ‘Lunch’ before Assembly began, led by Donna Holland, the fantastic CEO of our Flagship Charity Rockinghorse. Donna gave a touching talk on the incredible work Rockinghorse Children’s Charity do across Brighton and Sussex and how fundraising helps them to further their reach and impact on local families lives.

Supporting charities like Rockinghorse and those chosen by our Search Seven team is the motivation behind all of our fundraising events and we continue to be in awe of the amazing work that these charities do. Next up was our Auction hosted by local legend Sam Thomas from County Business Clubs, Sussex followed by our Raffle.

We rounded up the night with some final words from S7 CEO Gavin and got the School Disco started with, you guessed it… S Club 7!

Our guests were also treated to some old-school classic games from Vintage Garden Games and the Limbo poles may or may not have made their way to the dancefloor…

All-in-all it was a jam-packed evening of fun and fundraising supported by our brilliant S7 partners, friends, and sponsors. The Search Seven Back 2 School Event is part of Search Seven’s #Share177K campaign launched in October 2023 with the aim of bringing our fundraising total to £177,000 by the end of 2026, our 15th birthday! With a whopping £11K raised on the night, our tally now reaches over £140K to charity and we are so excited to put our heads together and see what we can do next! Of course, none of this would be possible without our exceptional attendees whose energy and commitment to raising money for incredible causes continues to blow us away.
